Help Turn Rush Limbaugh Types into Pot Heads

Help us to find OxyContin using pain patients willing to try
Marijuana!

MAPS supporters are urged to actively help us recruit subjects for Dr.
Abrams National Institute on Drug Abuse-funded study of vaporized
marijuana in patients who are using OxyContin for pain. MAPS is
supporting this study by paying for travel and lodging for
participants who live outside of the San Francisco Bay area.

Supporters can help us by downloading flyers and posting them at
facilities such as medical marijuana dispensaries, and pain management
centers. We also welcome supporters to promote the study by posting
information on blogs and forums.

The study is designed for 24 subjects; 17 subjects have participated
and 7 subjects are still needed before the end of the year. If you
would like more information about how you can help us recruit patients
for this study, please contact rando…@maps.org.

I think that ibogaine would help them more.

Good point. If I recall correctly, back in the 1980s there was a
popular phrase, "No pain ibogaine." Someone back me up on this.

(My damn OE didn’t quote right. What’s up with that?)

That phrase in quotes googles null, but here’s something close from
    http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=41522:

"The pain of withdrawal has ceased to bother me and I began to
    concentrate on everything around me"
    etc.

I think ibogaine isn’t just an addiction treatment, it might help petty
dextrohacks like Rush open up to a better universe.  Never was addicted
nor used it, just sayin’ from what I pick up.

Rush and his clones are hopeless; there’s too much of a payoff in
remaining the mouthpiece for lumpenprole ressentiment. No drug in the
    world can cure Terminal Assholism.

I think Limbaugh is a major carrier of the Emotional Plague. If that’s
too harsh an assessment, then see Colin Wilson on the Right Man
syndrome. Robert Anton Wilson once compared Rush’s followers to the
followers of a famous German fascist who averred that "the masses are
female." Similarly, Rush’s listeners famously call themselves
"Dittoheads." To me, the comparison seems tragically apt. "Female" and
"Dittoheads," meaning that they need/want to be pushed around/told
what to do/what to think, and one of the most potent ways to do that
is by telling them that sure, they’re a bunch of losers, but it’s NOT
THEIR FAULT: it’s the fault of "liberals", intellectuals, young people
and their music, Hollywood, "do-gooders," environmentalists,
feminists, the French, brown people, people who consume food and drink
that is associated with the educated class, black people, organized
labor, Asians, Muslims, ideas from Big City Folk, etc, etc,
    etc…anyone BUT
the Corporate Fascists whose interests Rush defends. Include in there
Savage, Hannity, and about 75 other Rush clones on AM radio.

I think I probably see this as a bigger problem than most of you do.
And I don’t have many answers. Obviously, getting the Fairness
Doctrine back in wd help, but I’m not holding my breath there.

Rebuilding the infrastructure, creating more jobs and making these
pathetic proles’s lives better is an obvious answer, but it seems like
a truly tall order. (With a ridiculo-octillion dollar deficit, does
Barack go for Social Keynesian spending on massive public works? I
    don’t see it.)

Ted Nugent has already make a not-so veiled threat to kill Obama, but
what do you do? He’s an asshole rock star out to keep his name in
there among the NASCAR and NRA crowd, so if you respond, you start
back in on the Janet Reno-inspired paranoia. And we all know how well
    THAT went.

Any dippy fuckwad – and there are SCADS of them in Murrrka!…McCain/
Palin kicked ASS in Idaho, Tennessee, Kentucky… – who still believes
Obama is an "elite" Muslim who is also a Commie out to take their guns
away as a first order of Biz is so far gone, there’s no hope for them
ever to learn to THINK again. (Not that these people ever really had a
thought in the first place.) I just see Murrrkin (not a "merkin;" I
knew what that was, bandito) Idiocy as a major problem, one most
liberals in the media don’t really want to talk about in a frank way.
    And why? (That’s rhetorical.)

I have a good friend, a neo-Marxist sorta anarchist professor. He
argues that sure, we have plenty of volk like this in the US, but
they’ve ALWAYS been around; you just want to carry them along into a
better way of life. Somehow. Yea, hard to disagree with that, but just
imagine if some skinhead POS offs Obama. I think then we’ll be FORCED
to deal with these worse-than-stupid souls who have been primed by
demagogues like Limbaugh for 25+ yrs now.

It would be REALLY ugly, and frankly it’s one of my greatest fears
    right now.

Aw, what the fuck: someone give Rush some ibogaine! Stat!

[end quoted, damn failure of my OE to quote into > series, again, even

Heh, yeah, thanks RMjon23 for the deep and substantive reply.  Yep, Rush
and his ilk have indeed poisoned the tone of the body/mind politic.
They poisoned the logical fiber as well (look for the venerable "Logic
and Mr. Limbaugh: A Dittohead’s Guide To Fallacious Reading"  by Ray
Perkins (in effect, fallacious reasoning but called "reading". Hey,
isn’t there a phrase for committing fallacies? Um, "fallacio" or
somesuch … ;-)   I can only hope that Obama’s "magnetism", poise, and
intellect will charm most Americans and let him pull us together as we
need to be these difficult times (e.g. some friends of mine have lost
100-250k in the stock market lately, "paper losses" but how long to
    catch up?)

I made up a joke about Rush once around the time he got nabbed for
indulging in OC, it can be found at
    http://www.usenet.com/newsgroups/sci.med.cannabis/msg00058.html.  See
also many interesting comments. (BTW is it true that archives of the old
Usenet threads are in danger?)  (Amazing how solicitous and sympathetic
the other right-dio hacks were to Rush that time despite their usual
attitudes about drugs!  REM also Cindy McCain being addicted to and
stealing narcotics from her own NP. Well, combine that with Republican
proclivities for adultery/affairs/divorce/remarriage (Newt Grinch, Rudi
the ghoul, John McCain) and "it makes you scratch your head."

    I even mentioned ibogaine then!:

      a.. __From__: Neil
b.. __Subject__: Rush’s favorite dope, and what it means
      c.. __Date__: Sat, 04 Oct 2003 20:47:33 -0500

    ————————————————————————— —–

With a name like "Rush," I guess we should have known!

Before I get serious: I put this joke out too late at night (?) on
alt.flame.rush-limbaugh etc. for anyone to notice yet, and Google Groups
    now
fascistically limits us to five (!) cross-groups, so here goes for the
entertainment and enlightenment of others across the fruited plains:

When Rush talks about his "favorite dope," does he mean:

    A. Oxycontin?

    or

    B. His biggest fan (whoever that might be….you?)

    (Actually, it must be "himself!")

Well, to be serious (because this is an opportunity to raise
    consciousness about
these issues, whatever Limbaugh’s opinions are about this and that): Now
    that
one of their own (otherwise, they never care) is indulging, will
    conservatives
quit calling for, and jailing, people involved in the analogous case of
    sampling
medical marijuana? I notice, that’s the new slant by Rush’s right-dio
    shills:
Oh, poor guy, we can feel his pain, and mean Liberals quite picking on
    the poor
guy!  Mike Savage blamed doctors for not being willing enough to pass
    out pain
pills to people who want them! We don’t know if Rush really "needs" it
    anyway,
or maybe it’s for those "anal cysts" that let him dodge the Vietnam era
    draft
and become a chickenhawk. (Well, Rush should know, that opiates cause
constipation anyway…..) Is there hypocrisy here?

For treatment: it would be cool to put Rush on ibogaine. That might not
    only
cure his pill addiction, it might open his mind to the narrow meanness
    of his
    thinking and attitudes.

PS: The full version of the Rush dope joke, I worked out later went like
    this:

When Rush talks about his "favorite dope," does he mean:

    A. Oxycontin?

    B. His biggest fan (whoever that might be….you?)

    C. Himself?

    D. George W Bush?

I read that call-in to AM 790 WNIS and it got some chuckles from the
interesting libertarian host Tony Macrini, who deserves to be national
even though liberaloids like me find his governmental minimalism
jarring. (But see, he’s honest, like Ron Paul.)
